This is the first time I’ve ever looked at a spider and didn’t get jumped because of how creepy their faces usually are close up let alone insects/arachnids in general.

There are characteristics of jumping spiders that make them significantly less gut-churningly horrific than other spiders. Cute eyes, pretty colours, and more jumping and less scuttling are big contributing factors. I admire and respect spiders as apex hunters. I like that they dispose of flies and other pestilent insects, but they fill me with a deep irrational horror I find almost impossible to express.
